Material and Durability (17/20)
Samsonite uses polycarbonate material in most of its luggage, and similarly, Samsonite used the same 100% polycarbonate material in this luggage, the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX. When we talk about the best plastic material, polycarbonate is the first one that comes to mind.
Polycarbonate is a lightweight material that is also known for its strength, and because of its strength, it has become the most loved luggage material by travelers.
The Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX comes with a textured surface This is because any scratches or dents are more likely to show up on smooth surfaces, and a bumpy or textured surface can easily hide those scratches.
And if you're concerned about the weight of the luggage, you must know that polycarbonate is the second-lightest material, just after polypropylene. However, polypropylene is lighter but not as durable as polycarbonate.
Samsonite is a well-established and trusted brand that has been appreciated by thousands of people, so you don't have to worry about the material and durability of this luggage. Samsonite Winfield 3 can easily handle the ups and downs of travel.
Storage and Organization (13/15)
Similar to other luggage options, this luggage also comes with two main compartments, and these compartments are fully lined. There is also a divider between the two compartments. The best thing I like about the Winfield 3 is that it has enough pockets on its zipper divider.
Both sides of the divider have pockets. In my experience, the Winfield series is the only series that has a divider with plenty of pockets. These pockets definitely offer better organization and space and can be used to store sunglasses, chargers, power banks, socks, and many more items.
You can just organize your belongings in a better way instead of stuffing everything in the main compartment. Another thing that is my favorite is the expansion capability of the luggage. The luggage can be expanded up to 1.5 inches when you need more space to organize your items.
Samsonite could have given 2 inches of expansion capability, as there are some luggage options, such as the most loved luggage from Samsonite, the Samsonite Omni PC, that offer the maximum expansion. It could have definitely been an improvement from Samsonite.
Another thing that you must be aware of is that there are no pockets in the bottom compartment of the luggage, but this can be managed with the help of the pockets on the divider.
So if you're someone who needs more pockets and expansion capacity to organize your belongings in a better way, then the Samsonite is sure to be one of the best choices.
Important Features (12/15)
Adjustable Wheel Handle and Carry Handles
The Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX hardside spinner luggage features an adjustable and push-button locking handle. The handle adjusts to different positions, and you can set it according to your height. The handle has a double barrel and a button at the top to adjust it.
The handle can also be locked when it's stored inside the luggage to avoid moving while traveling. Apart from this telescopic handle, the luggage also offers two comfortable carry handles: one is at the side of the luggage and the other is at the top.
These carry handles can be used to carry or lift luggage and will definitely help you load or unload the luggage from a plane, car, or train. These handles will also assist you when you want to fit your luggage in the overhead compartment.
One thing that can be improved in the luggage is the bottom handle. The bottom handle is the most helpful part of a suitcase when trying to lift it to put it in the overhead compartment.
360-Degree Bigger Spinner Wheels
Spinner wheels have now become the most important part of a suitcase. A suitcase without spinner wheels is of no use. Because spinner wheels are the wheels that offer great maneuverability and 360-degree rotation,
Fortunately, the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX spinner features 360-degree spinner wheels, which means that each wheel of the suitcase moves in every direction, and you don't have to tilt your luggage to move ahead.
These wheels roll effortlessly and efficiently on any surface, no matter how much weight you carry inside the luggage. Whether you want to carry your luggage in front of you or beside you, you can just do it with almost no effort and enjoy the ride with your luggage.
And most importantly, it won't cause any pain or stress in your arms or shoulders. Another thing I like about the wheels of this luggage is that they are larger than the wheels of other luggage, which means you'll get better stability.
However, Samsonite could have given double-spinner wheels because double-spinner wheels offer better stability and more confidence than single-spinner wheels. It could have surely been an improvement.
Note: The most important thing to note here is that the wheels of any luggage are the first thing to break. That's why you must be extra careful. That means you should drag your luggage up and down the stairs and avoid sitting on it, especially when it's in the upright position.
Integrated TSA Combination Lock
A TSA lock is another one of the most important features that every piece of luggage must have because TSA does luggage inspections randomly, and if your luggage can be chosen, then you'll realize the importance of a TSA lock.
A TSA lock is a lock that no one except you and a TSA agent can open once you set it. It provides peace of mind while traveling. If somehow your luggage is chosen to be inspected, any TSA agent can easily open and inspect it.
If your luggage doesn't have a TSA-approved lock and the TSA agent is not able to open it, then they'll open it forcefully and may break your luggage. Fortunately, the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX hardside spinner does have a TSA-approved lock and offers better security and mental peace.
It does have a 3-digit combination lock; the default combination of the lock is either 000 or 999. You can set your own lock code that is easy for you to remember and difficult for other people to guess.
The best thing about the Samsonite Winfield 3 is that the TSA lock comes with all the size options, whether it's carry-on or check-in luggage.

Design and Appearance (12/15)
The design of the Winfield 3 DLX is excellent and suits every type of traveler, whether you're a business traveler, a solo traveler, or a frequent traveler. It's all in one choice. The Samsonite brand logo is aligned in the middle of the suitcase, which looks even better.
Besides the font logo, some other elements, like the wheel handle, grab handle, and zipper, are also beautified with the brand identity. Samsonite has tried to give it a modern and stylized look that sets it apart from traditional suitcases.
When it comes to design, Samsonite always prefers offering multiple options so everyone can choose according to their personality. Samsonite has continued the same thing with the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX. You get around eight different color options, so you can choose whichever you like.
But the most important thing to keep in mind is that you always choose a color that is unique, less popular at airports, and can stand out in the crowd of luggage, especially on the baggage carousel.
Here is a complete guide on why choosing the perfect color is crucial. You must check it out to learn more.
Dimension and Weight (8/10)
The Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX hardside spinner luggage comes in three different sizes and meets the different needs of different travelers. One of them is 20-inch carry-on luggage, one is a medium-size 25-inch check-in luggage, and the last one is the biggest 28-inch check-in luggage.
For short trips up to 5 days, the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX hardside 20-inch carry-on with packing dimensions of 20 × 13 × 9.5 inches is a perfect choice, and if you're planning for medium-sized trips for up to 7–10 days, then the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX 25-inch medium-size luggage with a packing capacity of 24.5 × 16.5 × 11.4 inches is a great choice.
But if you're someone who always takes longer trips for up to 14–15 days, you've got no other option except 28-inch Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX check-in luggage. It has packing dimensions of 28 × 19 × 13.25 inches and offers great space for long travel.
MODEL | DIMENSION | WEIGHT |
---|---|---|
20-inch carry-On | Overall Dimensions: 22.25" x 14.5" x 9.5" | Weight: 6.97 lbs |
25-Inch Check-In | Overall Dimensions: 27" x 17.25" x 11.4" | Weight: 8.6 lbs |
28-Inch Check-In | Overall Dimensions: 30.5" x 20.5" x 13.25" | Weight: 10.96 lbs |

Price and Value (7/10)
Samsonite itself is known for making affordable pieces of luggage without compromising on quality or material. When it comes to the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX, we found that it's moderately priced and falls in between the other models by Samsonite.
When we compared it with Samsonite Freefom, we found that it's less expensive and more affordable, and when comparing it with Samsonite Omni PC, it's a little more expensive. So it's reasonably priced when looking at the features and functionality that we get.
If you try to get a suitcase of similar quality and features from other brands like Delsey, TravelPro, and Away, they'll definitely cost you much more than that of Samsonite.
Let me tell you something amazing: if you buy a set of three pieces, you can save around $100 to $150, depending on the color you choose. If you need it, you should definitely check it out.
Warranty and Support (13/15)
As I mentioned above, Samsonite is a well-established and trusted brand that has been serving the luggage industry for over a hundred years. Samsonite is one of the top three players in the suitcase or luggage industry.
So you don't have to worry about the warranty on your luggage. Samsonite offers a 10-year limited global warranty on luggage. Whether you buy a premium suitcase or an inexpensive suitcase, you'll get a 10-year warranty. So you can make sure you're investing your money in the right place.
In case of damage, Samsonite will fix the damage, and if they are not able to fix it, they will replace your damaged luggage and offer new branded luggage.
Samsonite's warranty covers all types of manufacturing defects but does not cover any damage caused by improper handling by airline personnel.

Samsonite Winfield Alternatives: Comparison with Other Competitors
Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX is an excellent choice, but if you're not satisfied for any reason, you can surely take a look at other options available on the market, either from the same Samsonite or other brands like Delsey, Travelpro, and American Tourister.
Samsonite Winfield vs. Omni PC
If you want to compare it with any other suitcase from the same brand, then the Samsonite Omni PC becomes an excellent choice. Samsonite Omni PC is made of the same polycarbonate material and comes with all the essential features you may need. These features include a TSA lock, telescopic handle, spinner wheel, and expandable zippers.
The key differences between the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX and Omni PC lie in design, price, and dimensions. Design is always a subjective choice; both suitcases are excellent. To me, the Winfield 3 DLX offers a more futuristic and modern design, but at the same time, it costs more than the Omni PC. You'll see a $10 to $20 difference in price.
The most important thing to know here is that the medium size of the Winfield 3 DLX is bigger than the Omni PC by 1 inch, so it's advisable to check out the size and weight regulations of the airlines you mostly fly with.
Samsonite Winfield vs. Delsey Paris Helium Aero
If you compare it with a piece of luggage from other brands, in my experience, the Helium Aero from Delsey Paris can be an excellent choice. Delsey Paris Helium Aero is also made of the same polycarbonate material and offers all the essential features that Winfield offers. Additionally, the 19-inch carry-on version of the Helium Aero also comes with a laptop compartment, which the Winfield 3 DLX lacks.
However, both suitcases are made of the same material, but in terms of durability, Helium Aero outperforms the Winfield 3 DLX a little and also looks more premium than the Winfield 3. Helium Aero comes in four different sizes, which include 19 inches, 21 inches, 25 inches, and 29 inches. There is no major difference in pricing. That makes it an excellent and considerable choice.
Ultimately, the choice is yours according to your budget and requirements, but all the options are excellent; you won't make a mistake if you consider any of them.

You can definitely go for the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX hardside spinner luggage. It has been constructed with 100% polycarbonate and offers all the essential features, such as a TSA-approved lock, 360-degree spinner wheels, and a multi-stage adjustable handle.
When it comes to the interior, the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX stands out first because it offers better organization than other luggage options. It does have plenty of pockets to keep you organized while on the go.
So in terms of material, durability, organization, and features, you don't feel any problems, and you can surely look at this luggage option. However, there are some drawbacks to the luggage, such as less expansion capability, no USB charging port, and no dual spinner wheels.
But in my experience, the benefits you're getting with the Samsonite Winfield 3 DLX are far greater than the drawbacks, and at this price point, it's really a value-for-money product you can go for with no worry.
