Material and Durability (16/20)

Samsonite Omni polycarbonate material reviewing image explaing the benefits of using polycarbonate in luggage | luggagelovers.com

The Samsonite Omni 2 hardside luggage is made from 100% lightweight polycarbonate material. Because it's made from polycarbonate, it's slightly flexible, which makes it resistant to cracking and damage.

Luggage that is made from polypropylene material is more susceptible to cracking and breaking. That's why the only sturdy option left except polycarbonate is aluminum, but the biggest downside of aluminum is its weight. It's the heaviest material used in luggage.

So the only option left is polycarbonate. The best thing about polycarbonate is that it's the strongest material when it comes to plastic. Polycarbonate is known for its durability and exceptional build quality.

The material is also moisture- and scratch-resistant to protect your content along with your luggage, so you don't have to worry about your belongings getting wet. However, the Samsonite Omni 2 is scratch-resistant, but in my experience, it'll get some little or small scratches over a period of time.

If you're too concerned about the weight of the luggage, let me tell you that polycarbonate is the second-lightest material after polypropylene and much lighter than other materials such as ABS plastic or aluminum.

In terms of quality and durability, the Samsonite Omni 2 stands up to the mark.

Design and Appearance (13/15)

Now let's talk about the aesthetics of the Samsonite Omni 2. The Samsonite Omni 2 luggage comes with a sleek and modern exterior that is perfect for a person who loves to look classy and wants to make a statement. It comes with a micro-diamond texture finish that not only enhances the appearance but also makes it scratch-resistant.

While the Samsonite Omni 2 luggage is not available in a wide range of colors like its predecessor, the Samsonite Omni PC, the available colors are still very attractive and modern and include midnight black, lagoon blue, nova teal, rose gold, arctic silver, purple, and slate blue.

You can choose any color that suits your style and personality, but make sure to choose a color that stands out on the baggage carousel so that you can spot your luggage quickly and prevent any theft at the airport.

Overall, the aesthetics and style of the Omni 2 are impressive because of its unique design with micro-diamond texture and eye-catching color options.

Samsonite Omni 2 Hardside Luggage

Storage and Organization (12/15)

The Samsonite Omni 2 comes in three different sizes, and you'll find some little changes in terms of pockets. The interior comes with great benefits and some drawbacks, too.

The Samsonite Omni 2 features two main compartments in all sizes, including carry-on spinner luggage, medium 24-inch check-in luggage, and large 28-inch check-in luggage. One compartment comes with a full-zip interior divider, and the other one comes with a cross strap to help your belongings stay organized and not move.

You can use one compartment to store clean clothes and the other to store used clothes, or for whatever purpose you want to use it for. It's totally up to you to take advantage of it.

Inside the interior, there is also a lining pocket in a zipped mesh divider that can be used for storing small items like toiletries or electronic accessories, but the downside of the lining pocket is that it has been given only to medium and large check-in luggage and is not available in the carry-on.

Another thing that may be a drawback is the unavailability of pockets. If you're someone who loves to have more pockets, then this luggage may disappoint you, as there are not many pockets except for the main compartments. However, I'm happy with the luggage because I don't need a lot of pockets, and the two given pockets work really well for me.

The best thing I love about the Samsonite Omni 2 is its expandability feature. You can expand it up to 1.5 inches, and it'll really do a good job when you need more space to pack more items.

But the thing I don't like about the Samsonite Omni 2 is that it's only expandable up to 1.5 inches; Samsonite could have made it up to 2 inches like the Samsonite Omni PC. That's surely a drawback of the Samsonite Omni 2.

Essential Features (12/15)

External USB Charging Port (Carry-on Luggage Only)

An image showing the USB charging port of the Samsonite Omni 2 Hardside Expandable Luggage | luggagelovers.com

If you're someone who most of the time relies on electronic devices such as smartphones or tablets, then this luggage can be a perfect choice for you. Because the Samsonite Omni 2 comes with a charging feature that helps you stay powered up while on the go.

Obviously, this feature is available only in the carry-on and is designed to connect with your preferred battery pack. The Samsonite Omni 2 has a charging USB port like a Smart Luggage so that you can directly connect your phone or tablet to your luggage and charge your device while traveling.

Samsonite Omni 2 carry-on luggage comes with a dedicated pocket for a power bank. You just have to pack your power bank or battery inside the pocket and connect your phone to the USB charging port.

Note: A battery or power bank is not included in the luggage. This feature has been provided only for the convenience of travelers. You'll have to carry your own power bank in your luggage.

Telescopic Wheel and Carry Handles

The Samsonite Omni 2 features push-button locking handles. The handle adjusts to different stages and can be set according to travelers' heights. The handle of the carry-on luggage extends all the way up to be able to use it with your large check-in luggage. The handle can be stored easily and neatly inside when the luggage is not in use.

In addition to the push-button telescopic handle, the Omni 2 luggage also offers two comfortable carry handles, one at the top and the other at the side of the luggage. These carry handles can be used to lift or carry luggage when you need to load or unload it into a car, a train, or a plane. With the help of these carrying handles, you can put your luggage in the overhead compartment.

But it may be a disadvantage that the Samsonite Omni 2 does not come with a grab handle at the bottom of the luggage. A bottom handle always proves helpful when putting luggage in the overhead compartment.

360-Degree Double Spinner Wheels

An image explaing and reviewing the 360 degree double spinner wheels of the samsonite omni 2 hardside luggage | luggagelovers.com

We live in an era where everything is progressing day by day, which is why a suitcase without 360-degree spinner wheels cannot be appreciated. Because spinner wheels offer great maneuverability and 360-degree smooth rotation, they roll smoothly and efficiently no matter how much you carry inside the luggage.

The thing that makes the Samsonite Omni 2 luggage unique is its double spinner with 360-degree rotation. Because of the dual spinner wheels, you'll enjoy better stability than normal 360-degree single spinner wheels, such as the one that comes with the Samsonite Omni PC.

With the help of spinner wheels, you just have to push your luggage once with very little effort, and it'll start rolling in front of you or beside you. You can move your luggage in any direction you want.

And the best thing about spinner wheels is that they won't cause pain or strain to your arms or shoulders. With the Samsonite Omni 2, you can ensure that you don't have to face any kind of problem in terms of maneuverability at the airport, in hotels, or on the road.

And because it has double-spinner wheels at every corner, it'll give you more stability than traditional luggage options. Undoubtedly, the wheels of the Samsonite Omni 2 are sturdy and robust and perform efficiently even on uneven surfaces.

Integrated TSA-Approved Lock (Checked Luggage Only)

Samsonite Omni 2 TSA approved built in lock reviewing | luggagelovers.com

The TSA combination lock is a must-have feature that is really convenient and secure. If you're someone who frequently travels and is concerned about the safety of your belongings, you must need this feature.

The best thing about the TSA lock is that it allows you to lock your luggage while still complying with TSA regulations, so if TSA wants to inspect your luggage, they can do it easily without damaging the luggage.

You may have a question in your mind about how to set the combination of the TSA lock. Simply push the button for the desired combination, and you're done. The best thing is that you don't need any keys to open or lock it.

The default code will be set to 000 at the time of purchase, and you need to set your own combination. Once you set the combination, no one except you and the TSA agents can get access to your luggage.

But the disappointing thing here is that the TSA lock has been offered only in check-in luggage and does not come in carry-on. That's surely not a good thing, in my experience. A TSA lock could have been given in the carry-on, as some other luggage, like the Samsonite Omni PC, does come with TSA locks in all sizes, including the carry-on.

Size and Dimension (7/10)

This image is about the size and dimension of the Samsonite Omni 2 hardside luggage

The Samsonite Omni 2 hardside expandable luggage comes in three different sizes to accommodate a variety of travel needs. These three sizes include one carry-on of 20 inches, one medium check-in luggage of 24 inches, and the last one is a large check-in luggage of 28 inches.

For short-term trips up to 7 to 10 days, the Samsonite medium-size check-in luggage with packing dimensions of 24 x 16.5 x 11 inches will be the best option to consider and is suitable for short trips.

And if you're planning for a longer trip, the Samsonite Omni 2 large-size check-in luggage with packing dimensions of 27.75 x 19.6 x 12.4 inches will definitely be a great choice and is ideal for trips up to 14 days.

MODELDIMENSIONWEIGHT
20-inch carry-OnOverall Dimensions: 22.5” x 15.5” x 9.5”Weight: 7.5 lbs
24-Inch Check-InOverall Dimensions: 26.5” x 17.75” x 11”Weight: 9.0 lbs
28-Inch Check-InOverall Dimensions: 30.4” x 20.9” x 12.4”Weight: 10.8 lbs

Overall, the Samsonite Omni 2 hardside spinner luggage is a versatile and convenient option for all types of travelers, offering a great range of sizes to meet different types of travel.

Price and Value (8/10)

One of the biggest concerns for most travelers is finding a piece of luggage that is both high-quality, durable, and affordable. The best thing about the Samsonite Omni 2 hardside spinner luggage is that it offers a great balance of both.

Despite having all the essential features, including a TSA lock, 360-degree spinner wheels, a USB charging port, and a telescopic handle, the Samsonite Omni 2 remains an affordable and inexpensive option, offering great value for the price that makes it a smart choice for travelers who are looking for sturdy and high-quality luggage that won't break the bank.

Warranty and Customer Support (10/15)

When it comes to luggage, durability and reliability are the key factors to consider, and this is where you can trust the Samsonite brand, as Samsonite has been leading the luggage industry for more than a hundred years. One of the key benefits of choosing Samsonite is that they offer a 10-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

This means if you face any problems with your luggage because of a manufacturing defect, Samsonite will repair or replace it for you. So you can have peace of mind with Samsonite.

But you must remember that the warranty does not cover any damage caused by airlines, improper use, or wear and tear. If this happens, Samsonite is more likely to not cover it. However, you can still get your luggage repaired, but you may have to pay for it.

Samsonite Omni 2 Alternatives: How Does It Compete with Other Luggage Options from Other Brands?

Samsonite's Omni 2 is a great piece of luggage, but there are some close competitors to the Omni 2 that you can consider too. Some of them are the Samsonite Omni PC, the Delsey Paris Helium Aero, and the Kenneth Cole Out of Bound.

Samsonite Omni 2 vs. DELSEY Paris Helium Aero (Most Premium Option)

the image is of the delsey paris helium aero 19 inch hardside spinner luggage

Delsey Helium Aero is a premium-looking piece of luggage built with the most durable polycarbonate material. This luggage offers you all the essential features, including a TSA lock and 360-degree double-spinner wheels. It also features expandability up to 2 inches, similar to the Samsonite Omni PC, which is the biggest in the segment, so you can pack even more without worrying about space.

The best thing I like about this suitcase is the outside compartment in the 19-inch carry-on version. That's not it; it also has a laptop sleeve in the outside compartment, and you can fit a laptop up to 15.6 inches.

The Delsey Paris Helium Aero is not the closest competitor to the Samsonite Omni 2, but I've included it in the list because it's really worth listing here.

This luggage can cost you a little more than the Omni 2 because of its reliability and premium look.

Samsontie Omni 2 vs. Samsonite Omni PC (Best Value for Money)

this image is of the samsonite omni pc polycarbonate luggage

The Samsonite Omni PC is another piece of luggage from the same Samsonite brand. I've included this luggage in the list because it's one of the most loved and popular products of Samsonite and has gained great popularity over time.

This closest competitor to the Samsonite Omni 2 is somewhat better in terms of expandability and appearance and offers a wider range of colors. Here I've done a detailed comparison between the Samsonite Omni PC and the Samsonite Omni 2. You must have a look to find out what suits you the best.

This is one of our favorite luggage options. The best thing about this luggage is that it looks like a premium piece of luggage, even though it is a budget-friendly option.

The Samsonite Omni PC features a TSA lock on all sizes, spinner wheels, and an adjustable handle. The thing we didn't like about the Omni PC is that the Samsonite Omni PC 20-inch carry-on does not come with a side handle. That's really a disappointment from Samsonite.

Overall, the luggage offers a competitive price and is worth considering.

Samsonite Omni 2 vs. Kenneth Cole's Out of Bound (The Most Budget-Friendly)

Kenneth Cole 62 Linear Inches hardside Luggage with spinner wheels

Kenneth Cole is also a piece of luggage that is worth mentioning because of its affordability and performance. The luggage is made using ABS material, which is lightweight and durable but not as durable as polycarbonate. It also gets reinforced corners that provide better protection.

It also comes with 360-degree single-spinner wheels and a telescopic handle that make your journey effortless. But the thing I don't like about this Kenneth Cole Out of Bound is the unavailability of an expansion feature, which means you won't be able to overpack your luggage.

When it comes to the interior, the luggage comes with fully lined packing compartments. The top one comes with a full zippered divider, while the bottom one offers cross straps with elasticity.

But another drawback is that there is only one small packet, so again, you'll have to compromise on the organization.

Things to Consider Before You Choose Luggage

There are various factors that must be considered before making any purchase so that you don't end up getting the wrong piece of luggage. I'm mentioning some of the important steps that you should follow when choosing luggage.

Material and Durability

The first and most important factor that can impact your travel is the material of your luggage. Before you choose any luggage, look for what it is made from.

The best materials for hardside luggage are polycarbonate and aluminum. Aluminum is the most durable material, followed by polycarbonate. But the problem with aluminum is that it is extremely heavy and expensive. So the most recommended material for any hardside luggage is polycarbonate.

Besides polycarbonate, there is one more material that is highly used: ABS. Compared to polycarbonate, ABS is less durable. This material is mainly used in budget and more affordable luggage, and premium brands never use this material in their luggage.

So make sure to go with polycarbonate whenever choosing luggage.

Size

Another one of the most important factors is selecting the perfect bag that can not only fit your belongings but also be compatible with airline size guidelines for luggage. So make sure to choose luggage that follows airlines for carry-on and checked luggage.

The most common allowed carry-on luggage size by most airlines is 22 x 14 x 9 inches. For checked luggage, most airlines follow the 62 linear inches rule, which is nothing but the sum of the height, length, and depth of your luggage in inches.

So make sure to be within this limit, but if your luggage is slightly bigger by 1 to 2 inches, there won't be any problem.

Feature

In this modern age, features have become ineparable elements of luggage. They make our journey more convenient. There are plenty of features that come with luggage, but I'd recommend you not go with feature-loaded luggage.

Choose the one that has all the essential features. These features include a TSA-approved lock, spinner wheels, and a telescopic handle. If you're a tech-savvy traveler, you can choose luggage with a USB port that can help you stay connected with the world.

Warranty

When it comes to peace of mind, warranties and customer service always prove to be the backbone. There are some brands that offer a lifetime warranty, while others offer a 5-year limited warranty. Some only cover manufacturing defects, and some offer an unconditional warranty.

So there are different types of warranties with different durations. and I would recommend you choose the brand that offers at least a 5-year warranty.

How Do We Research the Product?

We have been working in the luggage industry for years; our commitment does not end there. We spent numerous hours gathering authentic customer reviews, opinions from professionals in the same field, and first-hand knowledge.

Our main goal is to provide you with the knowledge you need to make the perfect decision and make informed purchases for your travel. We carefully assess each product before writing any review or comparison. We consider elements such as the products' design and appearance, as well as how durable and practical they are. The same thing we did with the Samsonite Omni 2 hardside spinner luggage Then, depending on each product's performance and overall quality, we assign it a ranking.

In order to produce a useful guide that can lead you down the right path, our research and analysis take plenty of days. Our main objective is to assist you in making broad selections that will result in successful and pleasurable travel.

Final Verdict: Our Recommendation for the Samsonite Omni 2?

Yes, you should consider the Samsonite Omni 2 hardside spinner, as the best thing about this luggage is that it's made of polycarbonate, which is the best plastic material. This polycarbonate material makes this luggage extremely durable. Even if you try to break it with a hammer, you can't. It'll just bounce off.

At the same time, the luggage is feature-rich and offers great features, including a USB charging feature, the TSA lock, 360-degree double-spinner wheels, and a telescopic handle. It also has two main compartments and some small pockets to keep you organized.

However, it does have some drawbacks, like no grab handle at the bottom and no TSA lock in the carry-on. But in my experience, these negatives are minor and do not impact the overall decision. Overall, the Samsonite Omni 2 is a great product that provides value for money, and you should definitely check it out.

Samsonite Omni 2 Hardside Luggage

Samsonite offers three different sizes when it comes to the Omni 2. They are 20, 24, and 28 inches in size. The 20-inch luggage is carry-on luggage that you can carry with you, and the remaining 24- and 28-inch luggage are the ones that need to be checked.

The weights of these 20, 24, and 28 Samsonite Omni 2 bags are 7.5, 9.0, and 10.8 lbs, respectively.

Samsonite has been serving the luggage industry for more than a hundred years. Not only does Samsonite make good carry-on suitcases but also check-in luggage. They become the most durable and feature-loaded luggage, especially when it comes to affordability.

Undoubtedly, expandable suitcases are worth it, and they have become one of the most important and loved features, especially for those who tend to overpack. Expansion can help you when you're planning longer trips or need some extra space.

But if you expand your luggage, especially carry-on, make sure to stay within the size limit and regulations because, when expanding, it may cross the size restrictions.
